Crusaders rally for win
ROSEBURG — The Klamath Crusaders came back off a two-week layoff
to get a 20-17 win over the Umpqua Valley Knights in Oregon Football
League action Saturday night.
Jarod Johnson set up the first touchdown in the game with an
interception and a 65-yard return, and then scored from one-yard out
to give the Crusaders the 7-0 lead. Chad Evans then scored from
one-yard out to up the lead to 14-0.
The Knights scored 17 unanswered points to take the 17-14 lead.
Will Bennet then scored the game-winning touchdown on a 20-yard
sweep to give the Crusaders the win.
Matt Miles completed six of his 12 pass attempts for 150 yards
and also ran for 50 yards.
The Crusaders, now 5-1, will return to Klamath Falls to play
their home finale at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Mazama's Viking Field
when they host the High Desert Lightning.
The Crusaders will complete regular season play May 19 against
the Rogue Valley Warriors in Medford.
