Crusaders back local scholarship program

    The Klamath Crusaders are sponsoring a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors who played football last fall. Qualifications include needing financial aide to continue the individuals’ education, and be of sound moral principles, good citizenship and of positive character.

    A letter f r o m t he player’s head coach that includes an evaluation of attitude, character and sportsmanship must be included, as well as a letter from a parent or guardian explaining why the financial need exists.

    Finally, t he player must include a typewritten, double-spaced essay of 250 to 500 words written by the applicant, after reading Catherine Ryan Hyde’s novel “Pay It Forward,” that answers the question “Pay It Forward … what’s the point?”

    Three awards will be given — $1,000, $600 and $400.

    Two copies of the application, which ca n be obtained at www.klamathcrusaders.com, must be sent to: Klamath Crusaders Scholarship Program, 1081 Joe Wright Road, Klamath Falls, OR 97603, by Monday, May 12.
